How we vet & verify providers

TMJDirectory is an independent directory. We want you to know exactly where our listings come from, what being listed does and doesn't mean, and how a profile earns its ✓ Verified badge.

Where our listings come from

Most listings are compiled from public, authoritative sources — including the U.S. National Provider Identifier (NPI) registry, professional association directories, and public web research — and organized into one searchable place. Inclusion means a provider appears in those sources with a temporomandibular-disorder (TMJ/TMD) focus, such as an orofacial-pain credential, a dedicated TMJ program, or intra-oral treatment training.

What a listing means — and what it doesn't

A listing is a starting point for your own research, not an endorsement, ranking, or guarantee of any outcome. We don't take payment to include a provider, and being listed doesn't imply TMJDirectory has personally evaluated their care. TMJDirectory does not certify or independently determine whether a listed professional is a specialist — titles, credentials, and areas of practice are provided by the listed professional unless otherwise indicated. Credentials, licensure, and fit should always be confirmed directly with the provider before booking.

How a listing becomes Verified

A profile shows the ✓ Verified badge once the provider has claimed it — signing in with the work email on file to confirm the listing is theirs — and reviewed or updated their information. Verified means the provider has taken ownership of the listing and confirmed it is accurate and current; unclaimed listings are shown as compiled from public sources and invite the provider to claim them.
