About

If you've been living with jaw pain, headaches, facial tension, clicking, clenching, or difficulty opening your mouth, you've probably realized there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. That's because the jaw doesn't work alone. The muscles of your jaw are closely connected to your neck, shoulders, tongue, breathing patterns, posture, nervous system, and even the way you sleep. Rather than focusing on only where the pain is, I take the time to understand how your body is compensating and what may be contributing to your symptoms. My goal isn't simply to help you feel better for a day or two. It's to help restore more efficient movement, reduce unnecessary muscle tension, improve function, and give your body the support it needs to create lasting change. Every treatment is personalized. There is no routine sequence or cookie-cutter protocol. Your care is based on your symptoms, your goals, and how your body responds during each visit. Your First TMJ Massage Appointment Your first appointment is a two-hour comprehensive evaluation and treatment session designed to give us plenty of time to understand your concerns and begin treatment without feeling rushed. We begin by sitting down together to review your health history, discuss your symptoms, and talk about the events that may have contributed to your jaw pain. We'll also cover areas that are commonly connected to TMJ dysfunction, including previous injuries, dental history, breathing patterns, sleep quality, daily habits, stress, and overall muscle tension. Next, I'll perform an assessment of your jaw movement, neck, posture, and surrounding muscles to identify areas of restriction, overuse, and compensation that may be influencing your symptoms. The remainder of your appointment is dedicated to hands-on treatment. Depending on your individual needs, treatment may include neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, intraoral massage (when appropriate and with your consent), scar tissue treatment, lymphatic techniques, and gentle strategies to help calm the nervous system and improve muscle function. Throughout the session, I'll explain what I'm finding and why certain areas are being treated, so you leave with a better understanding of your body, not just a temporary reduction in pain. Before you leave, we'll review how you responded to treatment, discuss recommendations for moving forward, and create a plan that fits your goals. If additional support from another provider would benefit your recovery, I'll discuss those recommendations as well. My hope is that you leave your first visit feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer understanding of why your jaw has been behaving the way it has—and what we can do together to improve it.
